Introduction
Call of Cthulhu (either the new d20 or the original ongoing BRP version) is a roleplaying game based upon the sci-fi horrors written about by the early 20th century author Howard Phillips Lovecraft, and further written about (with Lovecraft's permission) by other writers of the macabre. These stories of cosmic terror portray their horrors not as supernatural evils but as scientific fact. Magic is not mysterious, but merely a maddeningly advanced form of science, and the monster under your bed is not a demon from hell but simply a creature from outside our own time, space and reality - who still would love to eat your face. In this game, it is up to the player characters, or 'investigators,' to defeat such evils... if only for a time.
