The Thing That Should Not Be
Like The Call Of Ktulu, the song The Thing That Should Not Be is based on various stories by H.P. Lovecraft.
For instance, the following line, which appears in (at least) two stories by Lovecraft, should seem familiar:
- "That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die."
According to at least two stories by Lovecraft (The Nameless City and The Call Of Cthulhu), the lines were written by the (purely fictional) mad poet Abdul Alhazred in his book The Necronomicon (a.k.a. El Azif).
